Jumping at vaccination opportunity
The Reverend Paul Davey from St Nicholas Anglican Church received his Covid vaccination in Goulburn in recent weeks. "Actually, I'd been eager to get my Covid shot earlier than this...but this was the first available opportunity for someone with my age profile in Goulburn who's not in the emergency services or health. I got in to get vaccinated as soon as possible," he said.

"I really don't like needles but getting your shot is a good thing to do as a Christian. Jesus tells us to love our neighbours as ourselves (Matt 22:39). We can love our neighbours by getting vaccinated. It means we are less of a burden on others if we get the Covid virus, we're potentially less contagious and if enough of us get the shot, restrictions will ease and businesses that have struggled during the pandemic will be able to get back to normal.
"So even if you're like me and you don't like needles go and see your doctor and get your shot out of love for others!"

Something for mum
A glance back through Goulburn Post and Goulburn Evening Post editions is always enlightening. A May 5, 1964 edition of the latter carried a full-page Rogers department store ad promoting a 'wonderful Sunbeam range' for Mother's Day. There were mixers, blenders, electric kettles and deep fry cookers, the latter costing 13 pounds, nine shillings and sixpence. Of course if that didn't fit the bill, one could also pick up an iron for 10 pounds, three shillings. Surely there's nothing else in the world mothers want! We can't quite see this passing muster today.
A property bargain
In the same edition, we learnt that well-known Marys Mount property, 'Teneriffe' had sold to a district family. CA, DD and VA Anable negotiated the sale after the 143-acre property was passed in at auction for 60 pounds an acre. "Teneriffe, owned by the Hutchison estate, is one of the homes which featured in much of the early life of Goulburn and district graziers and their families," the article stated.
