Local Margaret Wonson is planning to operate the studio 'Get Creative' on the main street of Crookwell, at the roundabout, opposite Paul's Cafe.
"I decided to open the studio in order to promote and encourage art in all forms. The studio will also function as an art shop. The work of over 40 artists ranging from paintings, drawings, photography, wood turning, ceramics, wire statues, blacksmith art, handmade cards, bookmarks, etc and books by the local artists will be displayed here," she said.
The studio will also hold art classes and nine teachers are scheduled to hold classes for the public.
"I am offering 14 different classes. Many of these classes are already booked out and because of the demand, I am scheduling additional classes as well," she added.
Due to current COVID-19 restrictions in place, the organisers are deliberating about holding the workshops online.
Local Mandy McDonald, an exhibitor and workshop facilitator, feels that there is a need for such a studio in the town for locals.
"Locals are able to showcase and sell their work through the studio. It is the need of the hour. There are very few opportunities these days as exhibitions have closed down due to the pandemic," she said.
"There is a need, want or desire for an endeavour like this at the moment. The sooner we can get it up and running, the better."
Currently, the plans are to open the studio once the COVID-19 restrictions ease.
There are two art galleries in Crookwell currently - Crookwell and District Art Gallery within Crookwell Memorial Hall and the Tea House Gallery.
