Police are investigating after a pursuit of a stolen car in Goulburn overnight.

NSW Police said at about 11.30pm on September 7, a white Toyota Prado was allegedly stolen from the driveway of a home on Grafton Street, Goulburn.
Officers attached to the Hume Police District were notified a short time later and commenced patrols of the area.

About midnight, the Toyota was observed travelling on Marys Mount Road. The driver failed to stop and sped off, with officers initiating a pursuit.
The car was driven through locked gates of a property on Taralga Road, before it went down a bike path and a culvert.
According to police the driver and passengers then pushed the vehicle into the Wollondilly River before fleeing on foot.
It's believed up to four males ran from the scene.
