COVID-19 restrictions have stopped people in the ACT and Sydney from travelling to the snow.
Snowfall is predicted for the coming week, which will be the last chance for skiers and snowboarders to hit the slopes.
The ski season usually ends on the October long weekend, which is October 4 this year.
Forecasts suggest 2.5 centimetres of snow will blanket the mountain on Tuesday, with further snow expected on Friday and sunny skies at the weekend.
Thredbo announced the closure on social media.
