Are you itching to shave it off?
The Cancer Council NSW have launched a new fundraiser which calls on bearded gentlefolk and those with beautiful beard potential to get involved and support people affected by cancer.
As barbers remain closed, many are sporting a more rugged look and growing out their facial hair.
Beards be barbered encourages people to continue growing their lockdown beard and choose a date to shave it off to raise funds for Cancer Council NSW's programs and services.
Community relations coordinator for southern communities, Brooke Manzione said that they had to start thinking outside the square to continue raising funds while all their major events were being cancelled.
"Unfortunately, cancer doesn't stop for COVID-19 and people in the community continue to be diagnosed every day. Beards Be Barbered is a COVID-safe way to continue to fundraise during lockdown, she said.
"If you have grown a beard in lockdown and want to shave it off - OR you have some stubble with beard potential, we are asking you to keep it growing, set a special date, ask your friends, colleagues and family to donate to you and shave off your beard for cancer."
The funds raised will help Cancer Council NSW continue to operate vital services and programs including financial support, in home help, their 13 11 20 information and support line as well as funding life-saving research and cancer prevention programs to work towards a cancer free future.
