This year marked the 70^th anniversary, making the event the longest continually running festival in Australia.

Festival vice president Dan Strickland said despite the event going virtual, he was pleased with the reach of the festival. He said between 4000 to 5000 people tuned in virtually through the festival Facebook page.

"It's still great that we are able to continue with the festival 70 years later," Mr Strickland said.

"Lilac Time has a long history and has been a big part of Goulburn.

"It's fantastic that we were able to adapt."

A highlight of the festival was the crowning of this year's Lilac Time Queen Brittany Bryant.

Other key moments included the announcement of the window display competition and the garden competition winners yesterday.

The competition was run by the Goulburn Soroptimists with the grand prize $1000 worth of advertising donated by the Goulburn Post. Window displays were required to focus on history and heavily feature a lilac theme.
