That's why the Masala Mill Store was announced as Goulburn's favourite retail shop at the Business 2580 Awards night on Saturday, October 9
Owners Matthew Clarke and Rupa Dhungana were stoked to receive the accolade, but Mr Clarke put it down to his customers.
"Our business exists solely for our customers," Mr Clarke said.
"We're just really happy they value what we create for them.
"We tried to find out what everybody needed, especially during lockdown, and tried to get those items.
"We worked hard to make sure more people didn't have to travel to other places to get what they needed."
Although the business was able to remain open during most of lockdown, they still had a minor hiccup.
"Being a grocery store, we were an essential business," Mr Clarke said.
"I really felt for all the businesses that weren't able to operate at all.
"At one stage, we had a COVID contact at our store, so we had to shut down, clean and reopen."
Mr Clarke gave a heartfelt thanks to everyone who voted for his business.
"It's true to say that our shop wouldn't be here without all your kindness, care and ongoing support," he said.
"Thanks for sticking with us through all the good times and all the tough times.
"We look forward to improving and developing our business in new ways to serve you better in the years to come.
The Masala Mill Store opened in 2019 next to the Goulburn Multicultural Centre on Sloane Street before moving to Auburn Street at the end of 2019.
They were one of 16 businesses to take home an award on the night.
