The new racing season begins with the coveted Goulburn Cup at the Goulburn Race Club on Sunday, October 31 and it is sure to be a belter.
The feature race is one of the most sought after country cups in NSW with the race now offering a lucrative $200 000 in prizemoney.
Goulburn Race Club ceo Robyn Fife said it was a great opportunity for locals to get along and enjoy some high class racing and a day out amongst their own.
"Visitors from Greater Sydney aren't able to attend yet due to COVID restrictions but Goulburn residents can", Ms Fife said.
"Spring racing has always been a focal point for our community.
"This year it's great that we are still able to provide that opportunity for locals in the form of live action trackside, albeit within industry and health guidelines.
"Limited on track patronage will be allowed on Sunday for Goulburn residents and we would love to see people there to cheer on a potential similar result to last year's race".
Last year's Goulburn Cup result featured 'a big dash of local' with the Goulburn trained Al Mah Haha landing a last gasp win for popular local trainer Tash Burleigh. The gelding was also ridden by former Goulburn product Shaun Guymer.
'Big Al' as he is known around the stable, has been nominated to defend his title this year, with a potential back to back win teasing at an historic result.
Other interests on the card include The Spendthrift Guy Walter for fillies and mares, The Graeme Spackman Memorial Country Magic for B66 over 1600m and The Country Maiden Showcase Plate over 1200m.
Gates open at midday on Sunday and entry is $10 for adults.
Limited hospitality and catering will be available and attendees will be asked to QR code in and also show proof of double vaccination.
