Cassar-Daley snagged eight nominations with his album The World Today, which debuted at number three on the ARIA's Top Album Chart, scoring nominations in the Alt Country Album of the Year and Toyota Album of the Year categories.
The red carpet was rolled out at Tamworth Town Hall, in NSW's north east, with past winner Kristy Lee Akers and husband Jesse Anderson as host, fresh from an appearance on television show The Block.
Nominees were selected from more than 760 entries, which is the biggest number in Tamworth Country Music Festival history.
Also picking up a swag of nominations is The Wolfe Brothers, with their nostalgic, 90s inspired album Kids on Cassette putting the duo up in seven categories.
Their 5th studio album is nominated in the 2022 Toyota Golden Guitar Awards Contemporary Country Album of the Year and Toyota Album of the Year categories, while the title track Kids on Cassette is up for APRA AMCOS Song of the Year and CMT Video of the Year.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Shane Nicholson is up for five Golden Guitar awards including Male Artist of the Year, Alt Country Album of the Year and Toyota Album of the Year.
Meanwhile Felicity Urquhart and Josh Cunningham are nominated for Country Music Capital News Group or Duo of the Year.
The announcement was live-streamed to audiences across the country and overseas, with performances by Troy Cassar-Daley, Luke O'Shea and Ashleigh Dallas and rising star Cass Hopetoun.
Winners of the Golden Guitar Awards will be crowned at the TRECC on January 22 during the 50th anniversary festival.
