The newly-named Goulburn MG Cup is set to take place on the weekend of January 15 and 16, with 12 local teams taking part.

The goal of the tournament, Munroe said, is to be a real spectacle for locals to come out and enjoy over the course of the weekend. In pursuit of that idea, the GDCA has taken inspiration from major tournaments such as the BBL.
"We want to make it like a carnival of cricket and get everybody up there," Munroe said.
"We're pretty excited about it all ... on the Sunday night we've got DJ Amy James booked, she's a local DJ in Goulburn and we're going to try and get a roving reporter to get out on the pitch with a microphone like they do in the Big Bash."
But the major headline of the new-look tournament is the $1,500 in prize money which is on the line. It was supplied by the tournament's major sponsor, Goulburn Motor Group, for whom it is named, and is the first time such rewards have been on offer for a local competition.
Similarly, there will be a raffle held with over $1,000 worth of prizes on the line. The GDCA is also in the process of trying to organise an incentive akin to the old Mercantile Mutual challenge in domestic cricket, in which players would win prizes if they hit a six into the sponsors' sign on the full.
The weekend will get underway on Friday, January 14, with a night game at Seiffert Oval. Further round games will take place on Saturday, with a junior match to precede a headline exhibition game that night.
The tournament will continue on Sunday, with the grand final scheduled for that night.
All sides playing in the competition will be seeded, and the top four will have a bye in the first round. The seedings will be based on the standing of the local cricket ladder at the time of the Christmas break.
The new-look tournament, Munroe said, is just the start of what he hopes could become a major cricket tournament in the region.
"I think this is only going to get better," he said.
"Maybe in years to come we can make it an invitational tournaments for teams from other associations to get involved, but this is a start. We've got to start somewhere."
Further details pertaining to the Goulburn MG Cup will be confirmed as the start date approaches.
