Yvette Dal Pozzo is the new gallery director following the departure of Gina Mobayed at the end of July and she is hoping to achieve big things.
"I am deeply passionate about the arts and excited to share the work of a diverse range of artists with the region through exhibitions, commissions, programs and acquisitions to the permanent collection," Ms Dal Pozzo said.
"I hope to continue the impressive legacy of the gallery as a centre for innovation, experimentation and excellence in the arts.
"I'm excited to work with the team to bring the region a dynamic arts program and to champion the work of artists."
Her favourite thing about art is the way it connects people.
"Art is truly limitless and can be used as a tool for education, enlightenment, provocation or enrichment," she said.
"I firmly believe that art is for everyone and plays a core role in our everyday lives."
Ms Dal Pozzo may be new to town, but she is definitely experienced in the art industry.
"I have experience working closely with artists, writers and curators to bring ambitious projects to fruition," she said.
"I come from the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra where I worked on major projects including the two-part exhibition, Know My Name: Australian Women Artists 1900 to Now, co-curated by Dr Deborah Hart and Elspeth Pitt.
"Beyond exhibitions, I have also been closely involved in the production of rigorous publications, including as editorial assistant and contributor to the publication Know My Name last year and this year as the coordinating editor of Roger Butler's publication Printed: Images by Australian Artists 1942-2020.
"I also bring international arts experience to the role, including my selection by the Australia Council for the Arts to facilitate the Australia Pavilion as part of the 58th Venice Biennale in 2019."
One of her first jobs with the Goulburn Regional Art Gallery was to officially open the Goulburn Bustle exhibition on Friday, November 5.
