The campaign, run in conjunction with Australian Red Cross, was established after the 2018 stabbing of Detective Sergeant John Breda, who required more than 44 bags of blood to stay alive.
Speaking today at the Goulburn Donor Centre, Inspector Matt Hinton said it was an important chance for local police to give something back.
"Bleed 4 Blue sees police officers encouraged to give blood and it just shows the link between those emergency services, particularly police, and the community," he told the Goulburn Post.
"It's an important opportunity to give back to the community."
Whilst a friendly competition between police nationally, members of the public are also encouraged to donate to assist emergency services.
The Officer in Charge at Goulburn Police Station, Inspector Hinton stressed the importance of giving blood over the holiday season, especially with more traffic on the roads.
"It's an important initiative at this point in the year," he explained.
"Especially where we see everyone come together for family over Christmas and travelling.
"We know that there will be a big drain on blood donations with everything that happens at this time of year."
