Trophies were presented in a number of categories including the Alison O'Brien Community Award to Crookwell branch for contributing the most to its community, and the Best Recycled Item to Dee Hyams, from Collector branch, for an amazing handbag and purse made from fused plastic bags. Ms Hyams accumulated an abundance of plastic bags due to Covid-19 home deliveries.
The CWA is the largest women's organisation in Australia and aims to improve conditions for women, children and families. We reach that aim in various ways including lobbying for change, helping the local community, creating a network of support and meeting together in towns and cities.
The Southern Tablelands Group is made up of some 14 branches in the region, namely Braidwood, Bungendore, Collector, Crookwell, Goulburn, Majors Creek, Marulan, Mulwaree, Queanbeyan, Tarago, Taralga and Yass. Some of these areas have a day and evening Branch. New members are always welcome at the meetings.
