Gallery director Yvette Dal Pozzo opened the event on Friday, January 7 which saw over 10 people attend.
"The works in this program each approach the subjects of both cultural and geographic history," Ms Dal Pozzo said.
"It promotes and shares the work of digital artists and film makers with diverse audiences in different capacities."
Dr Harris spoke about the purpose of Prototype and how people were able to view it on their phones.
"These five video practices explore connections to heritage, place-making, history, expatriation, repatriation, family and personal storytelling.
"All the works were commissioned by me for Prototype which is a digital platform I set up.
"I thought this would be a great opportunity to not only reposition video art as a form of public art, but to use the free exhibition format of video to connect audiences.
"It's about allowing people to access really interesting and challenging art by living artists 24/7 on their phone."
James McKay then explained why he chose Guy Warren's car drawing for The Window, which represents Warren's interpretation of the many car journeys taken in rural Australia.
"For the past 20 years, I have barrelled past Weeweera, or Lake George, to and from Canberra and Collector," Mr McKay said.
"This work reminds me of the contemplative space I've experienced on those countless commuter trips of slowly approaching the bustling day in town and then shedding it from my mind as I return.
"In the generous white space here, between the marks delineating clouds, hills and the ephemeral lake, I am allowed to fill them with my own fleeting thoughts."
The next exhibitions at the Goulburn Regional Art Gallery will be Harriet Body's Yours, Robbie Howard in Gallery 2 and Karen Edin curating The Window.
