A man has been refused bail after being charged with the alleged sexual assault of a young girl in Goulburn on Wednesday.

Police said they received reports that a 15-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted earlier that day by a man known to her.
The matter was referred to the State Crime Command's Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad, which commenced an investigation.
Following inquiries, a 69-year-old man was arrested by investigators and Hume police about 11.35pm the same day at a house in Goulburn.

The man was taken to Goulburn Police Station, where he was charged with three counts of aggravated sexual assault - victim under the age of 16 years, and aggravated sexual assault - deprive liberty (DV).
Police will allege in court the girl was in the care of the man when the assault took place.
The man appeared at Goulburn Local Court on Thursday, where he was formally refused bail to reappear at the same court on Wednesday, March 16.
The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
