Hopes that Walker can match Kirk, for Goulburn's sake
The new Goulburn Mulwaree Council in its first formal meeting voted not to re-elect Bob Kirk as mayor despite receiving more than twice the number of votes of the nearest candidate in the recent local government elections.

Whilst rate payers don't directly elect their mayor, clearly a significant number of them considered Cr Kirk a very effective leader and advocate for Goulburn.
I hope this decision does not mark the beginning of a council that ignores public opinion on other issues it has to address and that Cr Peter Walker can match the significant achievements of his predecessor, for Goulburn's sake.

Democracy at work
Just to point out to Cr Kirk that what happened at the Council meeting is called democracy. That is the system that our country lives by.

Votes tell the story
We've had well over a dozen Prime Ministers since Bob Menzies and not one of them has gone at a time of their own choosing. Even the old tyrant Joh Bjelke-Peterson tried to do a nefarious deal with Labor opponents in a desperate attempt to cling to power.
Now in our own backyard we have ex-Mayor Bob Kirk less than graciously claiming he should have been re-elected by the councillors as he topped the poll with a primary vote of 23 per cent (which means 77 per cent of voters didn't give Bob their first preference) and Bob indicated the newly elected Mayor Peter Walker didn't deserve his appointment because he only got 6 per cent of the vote and was voted seventh out of nine positions.
It is very clear the community wanted a change with five new councillors, and the councillors wanted a new mayor. There are much greater needs in Goulburn than constantly changing the main street. The votes tell the story.

Bouquets for Goulburn Organics
Danielle and Matt of Goulburn Organics went above and beyond in their customer service on Christmas Eve.
After 7pm on Christmas Eve they hand delivered a fresh lobster to us (we live rural).
We were so surprised, not having experienced their excellence in customer service from any other service provider.
We learnt they had kids to collect, and Christmas presents to wrap.
Consequently we enjoyed eating fresh lobster on Christmas Day.

It's time for change
Angus Taylor is only interested in rewarding his mates and his family. Since he was elected in 2013, companies and organisations the Taylor family have managed directly or are associated directly with have benefited in $93 million of taxpayer funds.
Taylor is weak on climate action, spearheading a "gas-led recovery" at a critical juncture in the world's efforts to reduce and eliminate the use of fossil fuels.
Consider using your vote at this year's federal election to preference Taylor last, which is exactly where he preferences the well-being of the people of Hume.
Vote Angus out.
