Goulburn Mulwaree Animal Shelter currently have a bunch of dogs and cats available for adoption on the back of a busy two years.
COVID-19 saw an upsurge in pet adoptions across the region with the 2020-21 financial year resulting in 152 dog adoptions and 180 cat adoptions taking place.
To date this financial year 61 dogs and 38 cats have found new homes.
The shelter said those interested in welcoming a new family member or companion should utilise the PetRescue platform.
"We encourage people to apply online through PetRescue and Council Shelter staff will contact suitable applicants to arrange to meet the animals," a council spokesperson said.
"We would also like remind people that in general we do not have a history for the animals we have in our care and that all animals that we rehome will require extra love, attention and training.
"It is also important to remember that when bringing any new pets into your home they will require a period of time to settle in and get used to you and their new environment."
The shelter also reminded pet owners to ensure all pet details were kept up to date.
"Council Rangers also have a very high return rate for dogs and cats that are appropriately micro-chipped, registered and with the owner details kept up to date, so it is vitally important to make sure all your companion animals' details are compliant and kept up to date so that we are able to reunite any lost pets with their lawful owners."
