To mark the centenary year of the Country Women's Association, a Blue and Gold Ball was held at The Barn, Woodhouselee Road, Roslyn, on Saturday, April 9.

The ball was organised by the Southern Tablelands group of the CWA, and they gave a heartfelt thanks to The Goulburn Workers Club for their generous donation and to everyone who contributed in some way to make the evening such a success.
Special guests on the night included the State president of the CWA of NSW Stephanie Stanhope, Goulburn MP Wendy Tuckerman, mayor of the Upper Lachlan Shire Council Pam Kensit and her husband David Kensit, as well as Goulburn Mulwaree councillor Carol James.
Other special guests from branches of the CWA included president of the Crookwell branch Lillian Marshall and her husband Denis, former member of Crookwell branch but now Crookwell evening branch Frances Cromack, Hume Group president Jenny Birtles and her husband Jamie, past president of the Southern Tablelands Group Pauline Dunk and the patron of the Goulburn evening branch, Enid Rose.
The CWA of NSW had its beginnings at the Bushwomen's Conference held in conjunction with the Royal Agricultural Show in Sydney in April 1922.
The Crookwell branch was the first branch established, and for 100 years has connected to their local community in support of local women and their families.
President of the Crookwell branch Lillian Marshall addressed the crowd, sharing some information about its history.
Ms Marshall said the history of the Crookwell branch was remarkable.
"Mrs Flo Laver, in 1922, dashed home from Sydney to establish the first branch of the Country Women's Association of NSW," she said.
"Remarkable considering the transport options at the time."
Through droughts, floods, bushfires and wars the women of the branch have provided economic, physical and social relief to their local community.
The Crookwell branch embodies the ethos of the CWA, through country women, for country women, by country women.
The evening was a great success and a good time was had by all who attended.
