The show is usually filmed in Palm Beach in North Sydney, however to fulfil the scene requirements of the episode the television show sourced and found a suitable location which happened to be a property on the outskirts of Goulburn.
“We needed a farm that was geographically different from Summer Bay,” Director Geoffrey Nottage said.
“We needed an area that was dry. There’s been so much rain in NSW, everything is so green, the dryness is reflected in the story as kind of semi-hardship for the folk that are on it.”
Property owners Guy and Tina Milson were delighted to have to film crew on their farm and were happy to help the crew out whenever they could.
“I think it’s great for the district and for the television and film production companies that are coming down and looking at the area,” Mr Milson said.
“It gives great exposure to Goulburn.”
The team of over 40 cast and crew began filming on Tuesday.
“We stopped at Colo Vale on the way up to shoot a scene at a little petrol station and we camped up here and got into it yesterday (Tuesday),” Mr Nottage said.
They then stayed at a motel in Goulburn on Tuesday night before their 6am start on Wednesday morning. The Post got the chance to chat to actor David Jones-Roberts who plays ‘Xavier’ and he explained that it was his father that got him into acting.
“I’ve basically been around it all my life because my dad’s an actor as well so I’ve grown up around it,” Mr Jones-Roberts said.
“I probably really got into it when I was in primary, year five or year six when I started doing classes and then I got myself an agent at the end of year six,” he said.
“I just had a real passion for it because my dad did it and I just found it really a lot of fun and I got a lot out of it.” Most of Mr Jones-Roberts acting skills come from his father’s experience.
“I did classes with my dad for about three years which was hard and was quite intense because working with parents can be a bit confronting and you try not to make it personal,” Mr Jones- Roberts said.
After auditioning for seven characters on Home and Away from the age of about thirteen, Mr Jones-Roberts was finally cast as Xavier at the age of 18. The episodes of Home and Away filmed in Goulburn are due to be aired in late August or early
