On the 10-race program last week seven winners were prepared by lady trainers and tomorrow the dominance could continue again. After a treble last week, Lisa McFarlane has a strong chance of a double while Mellisa Griffin, Sheila Lewis, Denice Warren and Ruth Matic all have the opportunity of success.
Matic won last week with Persian Oil, an easy nine lengths winner in fast time and although up a fraction in grade looks to have a bright future. He will clash with local hope Anything who resumes from a two week spell and has a strong record on her home track.
San Fernando was a debut winner at Nowra 10 days ago and will easily adapt to the bigger track tomorrow and could give Matic another Goulburn winner in the final event.
McFarlane is represented in five races tomorrow. Her main hopes appear to be in race four with track specialist Matdan, a winner of three in Goulburn, including last week.
His main threat in the race will be local chance Our Cicero, trained by Denice Warren and a recent Canberra winner who is having his first run on his home circuit.
Warren has only had the dog for three runs and should make it an interesting contest with Matdan.
In race five McFarlane has two runners in Twitter Me and Berridale Flash both capable of winning the race and have drawn the two inside boxes. Her father, Ken looks a bright chance of winning the top grade race with Plugger Banquet who comes into this after a city win last month.
The seventh race needs a scratching to allow the reserve All About Chance to gain a run and if he is lucky enough to get his chance then the first starter is worth a wager. He has trialled well at Nowra and the Maitland kennel have a handy team in form at the moment.
