Fire fighters swooped on the outbreak near an airstrip beside the Hume Highway, close to the South Marulan turnoff. It burnt out 30 hectares and there were no stock or property losses.
The fire was moving quickly, according to early reports.
Meantime, the RFS has said 252 hectares (622 acres) was burnt out near Grabben Gullen yesterday. However one landholder told the Post it was closer to a “few thousand acres.”
There were no stock or housing losses but a shed was destroyed.
A total fire ban remains in place throughout the Southern Tablelands today.
