Firefighters from both services responded to reports of the fire at a Mary Street tow truck business shortly before 9pm to find a car well alight and surrounding buildings under threat.
The fire was stopped before it could reach gas cylinders and paint thiners inside the towing business.
It is believed that the burning car had been involved in a motor vehicle accident earlier on Friday afternoon 2km south of Goulburn near Run-O-Waters Creek.
