The big win followed a tightly contested 3-2 victory on the Saturday.
“The boys were pretty excited for the road trip to Albury but we probably weren’t as ready to go as they were in that first game,” said Australian representative player Glenn Turner.
“But we got the three points, which was pretty vital on the Saturday, then it just sort of fell together the next day. We had some really good plays and we stuck to our game plan.”
To make the weekend better, Goulburn youngsters Jake and Ben Staines celebrated their 17th birthday on the Sunday.
“You could tell they were pretty happy and you could tell the whole team was happy for them. Especially because I think they scored a few goals each,” Turner said. Team manager Neil Grant said the side was more relaxed on the Sunday.
“I think we were more ready to go. We had a few casual drinks with the Albury boys on the Saturday night, had an early night, and a good breakfast the next day, I think we were in a better mind set,” he said.
He said the two birthday boys played well, as did Daniel Fleming in the 13-2 rout.
“From a team point of view it was good to get those away wins. Especially for the goal difference.”
Such a big win will come in handy this weekend when the team returns home to take on the Old Canberrans.
The match looks sets to be a fight for second place on the ladder where goal difference could make the difference.
Goulburn 13 defeated Albury 2 Goal scorers: Glenn Turner-4, Kersh-3, B Staines-3, J Staines- 1, D Fleming-2.
