The Aussie Hotel Yass Roos continued their winning march to the finals with a comfortable victory over Harman last Saturday at Hughes Oval. With little opposition the Roos set about building another big score. The final result of 26-18-174 to 2-3-15 pretty well summed up the game.

There was more opportunity for Yass players to build their goal tallies with Ben Serafin and Jim Kelly topping the sheets with six goals each. Doug Watchorn bagged three and Jak Willcox, Simon Goyne and Jake Forth got two apiece. Damian Philippa, Dave Willersdorf, Shane Lees and Paul Willersdorf also one each. If you are keeping up, that only adds up to 25 goals so I am not sure who got the other one.
Best players were Ben Serafin, Jim Kelly, Jak Willcox, Aaron Wilson, Adam Forth and Toby Serafin on a day where many players contributed to a good performance by the team. The team showed patches of great team work and decision making that was heartening to the coach and spectators. This is what will be needed to continue winning through the finals when the intensity really kicks in.
There are two more home and away matches and the final five teams have been decided. The order they finish is still up for grabs though, right up to the last round.
Cootamundra continue to win by big margins and showed no mercy in their 128 point thrashing of the early season form team Goulburn. Yass will finish the home and away season no worse than second place. Despite the loss, Goulburn still holds third but must win the last two matches to be sure of keeping it. Cooma and Ainslie both had close matches. Cooma held out a fast-finishing Gungahlin and Ainslie snared a come from behind win against Belconnen to take fourth and fifth positions respectively. South Coast ended their chances of making the five when they lost to Molonglo.
Molonglo will be buoyed by this win as they come up against the Yass Roos next Sunday at Stirling Oval. The match gets underway at 12pm and Yass will be looking for another win to keep their chance of snatching top spot from Cootamundra alive.
It should be another entertaining match, so get yourself over to Stirling to cheer on the Roos. I'll see you at the footy.
