Having lost last year's grand final to cross-town rivals the Queanbeyan Kangaroos, which denied them the chance to win back-to-back titles, the boys in blue came out firing for a rampant victory over their favoured opponents.
And having comprehensively beaten the Roos a week ago in the preliminary final, they showed their confidence was sky high in their grand final effort against minor premiers West Belconnen.
But the fire in the belly did not breathe out until 10 minutes before half time.
A lazy start to the game saw the Warriors take a 10-0 lead early, and had it not been for some desperate Blues scrambling defence, they could have had an even bigger lead.
The Blues took half an hour to get on the attack, but big second-rower Mick Rusan then made a line break and barged his way over the line which reduced the margin to four points.
As the half time buzzer beckoned, fellow second-rower and club stalwart Phil Stonham decided to wind back the clock, as he dived over under the posts himself to get his men in the lead at half time.
The momentum did not stop for the Blues after the break, as half back Tevin Arona threw a dummy close to the Warriors' line and dived over to extend the lead again.
Hooker Brendon Lyons was then in on the action, as he completed a nice back line movement in running in support of a line break.
