The 45-year-old Goulburn woman has been housed in Dillwynia Correctional Centre, near Windsor since shortly after her arrest on October 21.
Her partner and mother were in Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday for her brief appearance.
The former Churchill St resident was charged with 16 counts of illegal drug supply, three counts of illegal drug possession and one of having suspected stolen goods in her custody.
She has not entered pleas at this stage.
Geale was one of more than 19 people charged following local police operation Strikeforce Coull, targeting the supply of methamphetamine, commonly known as ‘ice,’ and cannabis.
Her solicitor told the court her client was undergoing drug rehabilitation but that option was no longer available to her while in jail.
She is seeking a Corrective Services order to release Geale, under detention, into fulltime drug rehabilitation.
Magistrate Mark Douglass granted a one-week adjournment to allow an assessment of Geale’s suitability.
The matter was adjourned to Wednesday for a decision on this point.
She did not apply for bail and it was formally refused.
A co-accused, Kristy Lee Taunton, was also again refused bail, despite a plea by solicitor Jessica Clarke.
She faces 46 charges of supplying a prohibited drug leveled in October and is also in jail at Dillwynia.
Taunton was also charged with affray earlier this year, following an altercation in a local shopping mall. Ms Clarke said if released, her client would reside at her mother’s Bredbo home, not consume drugs or alcohol and would be under virtual house arrest.
Taunton could not post financial surety but bail conditions should give the court confidence she would re-appear at court.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Chris Toole opposed bail. He said Taunton had been granted this in April following an appeal on the affray matter.
“She was on liberty until that was resolved but she has taken advantage of it by committing these 46 (alleged) counts,” he said.
“She has been given enough rope in regard to her behaviour and unfortunately for her she has abused the conditions and is now suffering the real grave difficulty of being sentenced to jail.”
He described the mall fracas as a “disgraceful incident” witnessed by “dismayed onlookers.”
Taunton’s severity appeal will go to the District Court. But on Wednesday, Magistrate Mark Douglass refused to release her.
He said the mall altercation was not just a single punch but involved kicking and affray.
“Given its serious nature, the court is not satisfied that sufficient circumstances have been offered to mitigate the risk to the community,” he said.
“…If this court was sitting as the District Court, there would be no merit to the (severity) appeal.”
The matter was adjourned to January 14.
More accused In other Strikeforce Coull matters, Brooke Emily Pollack, 28, formally of Werriwa St, Goulburn earlier pleaded guilty to 55 charges of supplying a prohibited drug and one of dealing with property, suspected proceeds of crime.
She was arrested on October 21 following a search in which police claimed they found 3.9 grams of methamphetamine, $600 cash, a smoking pipe, numerous resealable bags and a card with names and dollar amounts, all inside a safe.
Pollack was refused bail the following day and has been held in the Mid North Coast Correctional Centre.
On Wednesday, her case was adjourned to January 14. She was also refused bail.
Kim Carney, of Goulburn had his conditional bail continued.
He was arrested on October 19 and charged with four counts of supplying a prohibited drug, two of possession and one of having suspected stolen goods in custody On Wednesday, Carney’s case was adjourned until February 4 to allow for legal aid and for representations to be made on the charges. He has not entered any pleas.
Luke John Wagner, 28, formerly of Collins St, Marulan is facing nine counts of supplying a prohibited drug. He has been in Goulburn Jail since October 22, the day after his arrest.
Wagner’s matter was adjourned until January 14.
He did not apply for bail and it was formally refused.
Selby John Joseph Miller, 28, of Hume St, Goulburn, will have a further week to read a brief of evidence and speak to his solicitor. On October 29 he was charged with four counts of supplying a prohibited drug and granted conditional bail.
He will reappear on Wednesday.
