Goulburn Mulwaree Library will collect the handmade poppies and exhibit them until February 15 next year.
From there they will be sent to the 5000 Poppies organisers in Melbourne to play their part in a bigger Anzac Day celebration.
The aim of the project is to “plant” a massive field of handmade poppies in Federation Square Melbourne on Anzac Day as a stunning visual tribute to Australian servicemen and women for more than a century of service.
“We have had submissions from sewing groups, schools and individuals,” says the library’s Young Peoples Services Coordinator Michelle Stuart (pictured).
“The poppies have been made from various materials including knitted, crochet and sewn.”
