Ms Baldock was in the process of renovating her home some years ago when, after removing a mantelpiece, she came across a small green paper ticket to a free show at the Empire Theatre in Goulburn.
After reading the Post’s feature piece on the Odeon Theatre’s history last week, she took it out of safe-keeping and brought it in to share.
“I’m guessing the ticket slipped behind the mantelpiece and was probably never used,” Ms Baldock said.
“It’s got to be more than 66 years old.”
While The Empire theatre, which opened in 1914, predates Ms Baldock’s birth, she recalled childhood memories of The Odeon (which began operation in 1948).
“I can remember going to school concerts there when I was at St Bridgette’s,” she said.
“It was so beautiful and I remember thinking the ceiling was like the sky with the stars shining.
“We used to be able to go to the pictures for two shillings and still have enough change to get hot chips on the way home. It’s a shame it was ever pulled down.”
She remembered watching the original Parent Trap film, starring Hayley Mills, and Ben Hurr on a school excursion.
“I can always remember the big lion would come out at you before the film would begin and as a child it was a absolutely terrifying.”
