Greyhound Australia, along with Goulburn Mulwaree Council are very pleased to announce the commencement of additional services into Goulburn.
The coach services will depart and return to the Big Merino and are structured around typical business hours:
- Goulburn to Canberra – Departs Big Merino 7.00am, arrives Jolimont Centre, Canberra 8.15am
- Canberra to Goulburn – Departs Jolimont Centre, Canberra 5.30pm, arrives Big Merino 6.30pm
Cr Kettle said he believed the new service would fill a void that had existed for a long time.
“Goulburn has lacked a reliable passenger transport service to Canberra for many years”, said Cr Kettle.
“Since being elected Mayor, I have been working to secure such a service. These things take time. We have been working with Greyhound Australia for many months now and are delighted that they have the confidence in Goulburn to provide these additional services.”
The services are being launched on a trial basis, with introductory prices starting from $15 return. Greyhound are confident the services will be utilised regularly by Goulburn residents and will review the performance of each service after the trial period ends.
“Goulburn is now a major regional centre that is contributing significantly to the economy and growth of NSW and Australia,” Cr Kettle said.
“Greyhound have recognised this and it’s great that we now have additional transport services to the capital cities.”
“This service fills a void that for too long has been ignored by State Rail and on behalf of the community I thank Greyhound Australia for their proactive actions and confidence in this great region.”
The Goulburn additions are a part of a larger project, which will see Greyhound deploy more frequent services between the Canberra and Sydney corridor.
Greyhound is also set to launch their airport Red Eye service, which will give commuters and holiday-goers alike the ability to travel to Sydney Domestic and International airport from Canberra for the low price of $15 one way.
The airport service is the most affordable way of travelling to Sydney airports from Canberra and is predicted to be very successful.
“Over the last year Greyhound has been focused on improving our service offerings between Canberra and Sydney. Our growing departure schedule and now our one of a kind daily Sydney airport service will give our customers the additional services our passengers have been asking for.” says Greyhound’s Sales and Marketing General Manager Terry O’Brien.
All new services will commence from the June 15 and are available for purchase online, at Greyhound Travel Centres or by calling 1300 473 946.
