At its height, at 3.39am there were wind gusts up to 80km/h. Despite the high winds, there was little wind-related damage, according to the State Emergency Service (SES).
On Monday morning, SES regional business manager Joanne Humphries said the service had only been called out to three jobs across the Southern Highlands region, with one job involving iron blowing off a roof in Kinghorne St, Goulburn.
The two other jobs the SES were called out to were in the Snowy Mountains.
While on the SES, Ms Humphries said they are currently recruiting for a new volunteer unit controller for Southern Highlands.
“We are seeking a highly motivated person to lead and support the volunteer members of the unit,” Ms Humphries said.
“The position will control NSW SES operations, recruit and train volunteers and support SES staff during operations.
“SES reviews its controllers every two years and this position has become vacant. It would suit someone interested in helping the community.”
The SES deals with floods and storms, leaving bushfire management to the Rural Fire Service.
They have 19 units across the Southern Highlands, covering an area that stretches south to Bombala and west to Harden and Young and north to Marulan.
For more information about the position, contact the SES on 4822 5555.
