Ricky and Michelle Tozer’s two girls Ella and Lyla have been attending the TAFE child care since June, and the couple aren’t happy with the announced closure.
“We heard a bit of a whisper over the weekend, and Michelle found out on Monday morning when she went to drop the girls off and was told that there’s a letter coming in the mail,” Mr Tozer said.
“It’s pretty disappointing. It closes down in December, so we’ve got a couple of months to try and find somewhere for the girls next year, which could be challenging.”
For Ella, who turns four in January, and one year old Lyla, the TAFE child care has been perfect. The challenge now is to find a place that can take both girls three days a week.
“We’ve found it to be a really good little place. Good staff, good child care. Nice and small, and the staff are really approachable. It’s a real shame for the staff,” Mr Tozer said.
“The girls really love going there, especially Ella. She’s pretty shy, and it takes her a while to get settled into a new place, but she really took to this place. I think it was because of the smaller environment and the really friendly and professional staff, she loves going up there and running around outside. Lyla just runs amok up there too.
“The girls will really miss it, and I think their cousin Noah, who goes up there with them a couple of days a week, will miss it too.
“It’s just a real shame.”
