Goulburn Labor proudly acknowledges her kind inference of the fact that Goulburn Labor does indeed give a damn about TAFE, TAFE Day Care, jobs and services in Goulburn. Goulburn Labor does care and we will keep on caring.
Where was the fire shown in her letter when her fellow ministers first thought it would be a “good” idea to close the TAFE Day Care? Why has it only been reserved for critics of the closure now it has become politically embarrassing?
We invite Ms Goward to this month’s politics in the pub to be held upstairs at the Astor Hotel, from 7pm on Monday, October 19 where the focus will be on TAFE and the TAFE Day Care closure.
Perhaps listening to the electorate may help to redirect her anger.
We also suggest that if the rules have now changed whereby the TAFE Day Care now must cover its cost, then let the community decide. Now the community understands the situation, give the TAFE Day Care another year to turn it around and the freedom to market into the local community.
I am sure there are parents all over the city who would be happy to get their kids into an award winning school now they know they can. If you truly believe in business and market forces let the market decide. Give TAFE a real chance!
In full disclosure I acknowledge my son goes to the TAFE Day Care and my eldest daughter before him and we were hoping to send our younger children when they are ready. It is a good centre and the staff are well talented committed individuals who deserve better.
As for the originator of an earlier letter criticising the move, I do not know who wrote the letter nor whether they are a member of Goulburn Labor.
The name was withheld by the paper and we are assuming it would have indeed been signed.
We would also encourage Ms Goward to respect the independence of the media as we have even on the receiving end.
Jason Shepherd, President, Goulburn Labor.
