They say that they are for jobs, but how many have been created?
They have, in the name of paying their way, cut sewing courses, cut cooking, as well as the art classes or so-called hobby courses that old women wanted! Language classes as well as tertiary preparation courses have also gone. Not all children have the opportunity to finish the HSC that employers demand these days for even a so-called cleaning or childcare job!
In 1970, they cut sewing and cooking, and in 2013 they cut the Art Diploma and dismantled the department at last at the September 24, 2015 auction. Where did the money that they raised from that exercise go?
Now she says the childcare should either pay its way or close and that private companies that have childcare facilities in Goulburn would run it better. Better than who, Pru?
That is why ex-Senator Ursula Stephens is involved in setting up the new community college to educate the future workers. Our young people want jobs that they can be employed in today and in the future.
Lynette Young, Goulburn.
