The mobile crane – dubbed Big Red – weighs 412 tonnes and has a working height of around 50 metres.
It left Gladstone on Sunday night, arriving at Port Kembla on Wednesday morning.
It took most of the day to unload the crane and it is expected to be in operation along Berth 109 at Port Kembla in a few weeks.
Patrick eastern regional manager Bob Shueh said the crane was brought back to Port Kembla to load steel coil from BlueScope, as well as other cargo.
“From a Patrick perspective, we’ve brought the crane back because we have confidence in the region,” Mr Shueh said.
“We are confident that the crane will bring us more trade as well.”
