On Sunday, he showed off his reworked vehicle to the world.
The Bundanoon car-lover was among dozens of exhibitors who docked their stunning vehicles on Goulburn High School grounds for the city’s leg of the Australian Street Rod Federation Shakedown.
All money raised from entry fees and market stall rates goes to the coffers of Goulburn High School’s P&C committee.
Genero was thrilled to be able to both showcase his Chevrolet and support a local institution.
“I’ve always had old cars. It’s a lifelong hobby and passion,” he said.
“This one’s got a complete new driveline, a new V8 engine, new automatic gearbox, new differential, new front suspension, new rear suspension.
“Bodywise, it’s all original - original colour, original interior.
“It’s a lovely car. It combines the styling of the 1950s with the modern drivetrains of today. It looks like an old car, but it drives like a modern car.”
The Chevrolet Styleline was one of many celebrated cars on show.
Shakedown organiser Jo Facey was thrilled with yesterday’s turnout.
“It’s been absolutely amazing. We’ve had people come in from 8am from all over the countryside - Sydney, Wollongong, Canberra,” she said.
“We’ve had convoys from local car clubs. Already the locals are starting to come out. The weather’s been fantastic - yet again.
“A huge thanks to Goulburn Mulwaree Council and their team at the Visitor Information Centre. Without them, this isn’t possible.”
