THE semi-finals of the 2016 District Singles Championship were played last Tuesday at Bowral Bowling Club.
During these games Jocilin Hayman (Goulburn Railway) defeated Ann Brenning (Bowral) and Karen Marshall (Goulburn Railway) defeated Reta South (Bowral).
The final was then played at Goulburn Railway last Thursday between two local bowlers, Jocilin Hayman and Karen Marshall.
What an exciting match to watch! Karen took the lead early in the game to lead by quite a large margin. Then the game changed with Jocilin gradually picking up shots until there was only a two shot margin between the scores.
In the end, Karen claimed the final end, which gave her the required number of 25 shots in order to win the match.
The spectators witnessed beautiful determined bowling from both Karen and Jocilin.
Congratulations to Karen Marshall, the 2016 District Singles Champion, and also to the runner-up, Jocilin Hayman, for such a great match.
Karen will now contest the Regional Play Off later in the year against the winner of the Illawarra District.
Karen is also our 2016 Women’s Club Singles Champion and so she will contest the Champion of Club Champion Singles event to be held at Oak Flats Bowling Club this week. We wish you all the best with your bowling during this event Karen.
