A BUSY DAY FOR TARALGA HISTORICAL SOCIETY

A few hundred visitors delighted in sheep shearing displays, wool spinning and a Rural Fire Service display.
A visit from Danny D (a miniature pintaloosa from the Harkness Stud at Middle Arm) proved popular with young and old.
They were also treated to a performance by the Taralga Ukulele group.
As well as locals, many visitors came from outside of town to make use of the society’s family records library.
A ROBERTSON TOUR OF GARDENALIA
The Garden Club bus will leave on Thursday, October 13 from the Club at 8am and pick up members at 8.30am at the Gordon Hotel.
The excursion venue will be “Gardenalia”, the home of more than 600 pots of rare and unusual plants.
Lunch will be at the Robertson Inn before going to the Bonsai Nursery.
The cost of $65 for the day includes garden entry, bus fare and lunch. Names must be in no later than October 7.
ALL WELCOME TO MEMORIAL HALL MEETING
Prue Burfitt says that meetings of the Memorial Hall Committee are held quarterly and all members of the community are welcome to attend as the Memorial Hall is an integral part of the community.
New members are also welcome at the Progress Association Meetings.
The next meeting will be at the Taralga Hotel on Monday, October 10 at 7.30pm.
THE PASSING OF NEIL McINNES
Well-known local grazier Neil McInnes passed away on September 29 at the age of 89 years.
Neil was a keen tennis player and devoted to his family and church.
Neil and Therese (deceased) reared their family at “The Dane”, Golspie, but Neil spent his later years in Goulburn.
A Requiem Mass will be held on Thursday, October 6 at 11am at the Catholic Church, Taralga.
Neil will then be buried in Stonequarry Cemetery.
CWA PLAN AGM THIS MONTH
Gabi Keith says that the CWA will be holding the AGM on Friday, October 21 at 6.30pm at the Taralga Hotel.
Following the AGM at 7pm, they will be hosting a Ladies Night Out to raise funds for local Breast Care Nurses.
A complimentary glass of champagne will be served on arrival and raffles with many prizes.
Come along and have a chat and fun while helping a worthy cause.
