A vision for when demand outstrips supply
Older residents of Goulburn would remember when a tourist facility was suggested for the area we now call the south Goulburn roundabout.

However, at the time, this was soundly knocked on the head by all concerned.
We now have in this area most of those facilities first suggested, and more, and more to come: another servo and three more outlets, with hopefully a brewery also.
All this will require a major re-think on traffic control as in peak times we could see traffic extending onto the highway.
But will the authorities have the vision to correct the problems we have there now, and looming?
It is only a matter of time before the southern side of the highway is opened for development.
We hopefully will not only see a truck washing facility in this area, but a large, 24/7 workshop for the servicing of trucks and coaches.
Of course, when this happens, food and fuel outlets will follow.
Many trucking companies now use Goulburn as their change-over point.
Some time in the future, an area of land will have to be set adside for this purpose.
Perhaps all can be provided on this site.
This area should have been part of the planned original development, but because of lack of vision, we have the ad hoc mixture we see today, including traffic congestion.
However, when this area is opened up, we may see some easing of congestion.
In less than 10 years, Sydney will have a population of 10 million, perhaps; Canberra, close to one million – all meaning a vast increase in traffic flow, including heavy vehicles.
Will the present powers that be have the vision to plan and develop this area for the future prosperity of Goulburn?

Stop the awful smell in Tarago
Amazing how Veolia is so concerned about some asbestos in their tip, but don't care about the awful smell they are subjecting the people of Tarago to.
Why won't somebody do something to stop our suffering?

Dementia care advice this holiday season
This Christmas, Alzheimer’s Australia NSW is urging anybody with a family member or friend with dementia to be mindful of their symptoms and look out for changes in their condition.
In the Goulburn electorate there are an estimated 1450 people living with dementia.
That figure is projected to increase to about 2900 by 2050.
Because holiday celebrations provide a time for families and friends to come together after what can often be long periods of time, it is in these instances that changes in thinking, memory and behaviour can seem most apparent.
That’s why this festive season we’re encouraging families to re-assess their loved one’s condition and situation.
This is important in identifying what extra support might be required in light of any change in behaviours or worsening of symptoms.
If you notice changes in a loved one or have any other concerns, I urge you to call the National Dementia Helpline on 1800 100 500 to speak to an expert.
Our dementia advisors are trained to listen to your concerns, and to provide compassionate, targeted support that can empower you to make key decisions and access the local services and supports that are available in your local area.
Your concerns are our concerns, so no matter how minor or major the issue, every call matters.
