With the misty rain it was fortunate that the Wexted wicket was covered overnight. The United team was sent in to bat by Trinity captain Eric Brown.
United players Harry Kristan and Angus Regterschot put on a 57 run partnership: Harry, 22 runs including two fours and Angus, 15. This was well supported by Levi Weber’s 13 runs as opener.
The others found batting difficult with good bowling from Trinity. Lachlan Minehan had been watching the ‘game-winning feats’ of Aussie O’Keefe as he took four wickets for 16 with a consistently good line of bowling. Josh Paterson was ‘Hazelwood-like’ with his figures of six overs, 1 for 4. Danyon Bush was also superb with his 2 for 8 after four overs, as was Jake Paterson, 1 for 5 in his four.
Liam Mullins took 1 for 9 in five overs. Tommy Bell, Will Branson, Max Flack, Eric Brown and Jack McCarthy were also instrumental in tying the opposition down, considering the ball was like a cake of soap by drinks! Max also took a great keeper’s catch and an outfield catch.
