Tahlia was the winner of the Margaret Fulton Scholarship and studied a Certificate III in Commercial cookery at Goulburn TAFE.
The 19-year-old chef still carries the much-loved family recipe in her cookbook as inspiration for her culinary future. She is completing her apprentice at the Taralga Sports Club as Lisa Francis's apprentice.
“It was such a nice surprise to win,” Tahlia said.
She is attending the presentation dinner in Wollongong on May 18, which she said would be “a truly amazing experience.”
“I am thrilled to have achieved recognition in the form of this award and am so grateful firstly to Lisa for being my exceptional mentor and secondly to my family for supporting me in everything I do,” she said.
She said her favourite type of food to prepare are desserts.
“You half eat with your eyes,” she said.
