The Aspire program aims to motivate students to take control of their future. Students are challenged each week to reflect on their personal goals and realise the commitment required to achieve them. The first three weeks of the program has resulted in impressive efforts and positive change within all students. Sessions are broken into two parts, with students working through the theory component in class, then a rigorous practical component. After the first three weeks, there has been nothing but positives from the students. Participants have found the program challenging, inspiring and most of all uplifting.
Ex Canberra Raiders captain Alan Tongue delivers the programs in schools across the ACT and southern NSW. His recognition as ACT’s Australian of the Year in 2016 is one of many accolades he has received for his work and dedication to young people. Alan’s passion and enthusiasm is contagious, people cannot help but take on the message he is delivering. The program is again sponsored by the Goulburn Workers Club and board member Greg McAleer was impressed by what he saw, when he visited the school.
