Fares have increased for Goulburn travellers on the Sydney to Canberra Xplorer train service. Previously, commuters who travelled from Sydney or Campbelltown towards Canberra and got off at Goulburn would pay no more than $15 on the 6.12pm daily service from Sydney or the 6.58pm daily service from Campbelltown.

But late last month, the NSW TrainLink website updated its 2015 advice on the Xplorer service, saying the commuter fare would be withdrawn from sale from Monday, May 1.
The price for an adult economy seat from Sydney or Campbelltown to Goulburn is now $28.25, or $37.12 in first class, for a trip of two hours and 40 minutes. The Sydney to Melbourne XPT service fares for that section are the same.
In comparison, road coach services from Sydney Central Station to Goulburn cost between $35 and $60 and take about two-and-a-half to three hours.
A Transport for NSW spokesperson said the previous fares were a temporary arrangement.
