We found these two gentlemen to be extremely helpful and kind.
They finished the job in time for the June long weekend.
When we went to pick up the car, we could hardly recognise it. It looked like a new car again! And the workmanship was excellent.
Once again, they were extremely courteous and helpful; and many parts they did for free.
So now she sits down in our garage in her former glory. She’s a wonderful little car and well worth repainting.
May we recommend anyone wishing for repairs or paintwork of any kind to take their car to Craif and Ryan.
We were very pleased that we did, and you’d be pleased, too.

Progress is good, and jobs for people, even better
I am employed by Gunlake Quarry at Brayton Road, Marulan.
I am an ex-serviceman, 1968-1970.
I will say later on why I stated the above.
I would like to express my disbelief, at reading one of your papers, where some local residents of Marulan and surrounding areas applauded a court’s ruling that halted the expansion of Gunlake Quarry’s footprint.
In doing so, some jobs may be cut from the fine team of young men Gunlake has as its workforce.
Some of these men have relocated from afar to take on mortgages or rent, and are binding contracts with banks and landlords.
I would also like to point out that 95 per cent or more of the people who are against Gunlake’s expansion are retirees who have got to where they are now due in part to progress during their working life that has seen them sitting pretty now.
The road that is concerning the older people in this dispute is more than nine kilometres from the nearest one.
I have also hear dthat most of these people use the bypass works road to get out to the main highway to Sydney quicker.
Give me a break. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.
Finally, why I stated above that I was an ex-serviceman is because in the army it’s all about teamwork and I can see it in these fine young men at Gunlake today.
Progress in any form is good for the future.

Outdoor dining policy no piece of cake
On June 23 in 1936, the Goulburn Evening Penny Post reported that Mr Hugh Cocks was fined 2/6 in the Goulburn Police Court for "selling milk from a vehicle that did not bear his name".
Discretion would be the better part of valor, you might think, with a John Henry like that ... But rules are rules.
Which brings us to the Goulburn Mulwaree Council outdoor dining guidelines.
They state, in part, “council encourages the design and range of furniture for outdoor seating areas to demonstrate diversity and innovation”.
But then they demand that all umbrellas must be square and “where there is more than one umbrella, they should be of a single solid colour”.
Not sure what that means, but it sounds like Henry Ford`s dictum that you can have any colour Model T you want, so long as it’s black.
Also, the umbrellas must not be joined or “zippered” together because that would constitute a canopy, which is a big no-no!
And that`s just umbrellas. Who`s going to police all this nonsense?
The council bureaucrats are making mountains out of molehills.
Even worse and unashamedly, the outdoor dining policy viewable on exhibition on the council's website is a paste and copy with acknowledgement to Sydney City Council!
Really, it’s pathetic when lackadaisical and lazy council bureaucrats resort to nicking ideas from Clover Moore and Sydney City Council.
Also on the website, figure 7 is a picture of what the council considers is an example of what is tickety boo when it comes to outdoor dining.
I recognise the scene as King Street, Sydney, near the intersection with York Street.
There would be more foot traffic there in five minutes than Auburn Street would see in five weeks.
Really, Goulburn Mulwaree councillors, look through this nonsense and insist that Goulburn Mulwaree Council come up with its own policy that encourages outdoor dining.
Don't be so penny pinching. Let the eateries have the space for free as they contribute to the laidback and friendly vibe of Goulburn.
Did you know, for example, that if you tell the friendly staff at The Paragon it’s your birthday, you’ll get a free slice of cake.

Road accident restores faith in humanity
My partner was involved in a road accident in Goulburn last week.
We would like to say thank you to all concerned in assisting my partner, John.
This included police, ambulance, hospital staff and bystanders.
To whoever called and let a friend know what had happened, thank you.
To whoever was kind enough to drop off the special diet dog food that was in the car, thank you.
To Mel, a huge thank you for all you did.
Faith in humanity restored!
