Organsier Prue Martin said a total of 159 people participated in a true celebration of local businesses and the business community.
“The importance of continuing the awards is allowing the public to acknowledge and recognise the businesses we have in Goulburn and the level of service they provide,” she said.
“All attending were supportive of the awards and the promotion of the work of the Chamber.”
Winners of this year’s excellence awards were:
- Trainee/apprentice of the year is Lillie Brown of Southern Tabelands Arts
- Young entrepreneur of the year is Kelly Boydell of Imaginations Early Education
- Excellence in Innovation is Warrigal Goulburn
- Leader of the year is Andy Divall
- Excellence in sustainability is Harvest Goulburn
- Richardson & Wrench Goulburn Excellence in Customer Service Corey Newman of John McGrath Auto Group
- Excellence in Small Business is Imaginations Early Education
- Excellence in Business is Allens Training
- Employer of Choice is Allens Training
Quality manager for Allens Training Brooke Stephenson said she was extremely proud of the team’s dedication and commitment after taking out the Excellence in Business and Employer of Choice.
“Thank you to the Chamber of Commerce and industries, without them we wouldn’t showcase our business,” she said.
Trainee/apprentice of the year Lillie Brown of Southern Tabelands Arts was unable to attend the event but said she was grateful for the nomination and the award.
“I’ve always wanted to work within the arts but it’s notoriously difficult to get your foot in the door,” Ms Brown said. “Here I’m exposed to incredible learning experiences and can develop my career.”
Jodie Divall, Divall’s Earthmoving and Bulk Haulage office manager and wife of Leader of the year Andy, said he was surprised and very humbled.
She said the award was attributed to the team work and effort Mr Divall put into his work.
“It comes down to the people who work for him. They’re on the ground and they’re the most important ones,” she said.
“In respect of the people working for you, you have to be there for them, and I think that’s what Andy does everyday.”
The event was held at the Mercure Goulburn and hosted by Paul Parlett.
