For now, at least, the Prodrive Racing talent is concentrating on trying to win the Bathurst 1000 for the second time in his career.
“For us it’s just focus on each weekend as it comes,” Mostert, who sits fourth in the championship, said.
“You could have the quickest car there [Bathurst], we’ve seen Jamie [Whincup] and Paul [Dumbrell] over the years have the quickest car there, but if you don’t have luck on your side, you don’t get it done.
“We’ve just got to keep focused on each session as it comes, keep working on the car to go faster and faster and we’ll see how we go.”
Mostert and co-driver Steve Owen placed third in last month’s Sandown 500, a result which certainly helped his championship.
He goes into the Bathurst 1000 trailing current leader Scott McLaughlin by 282 points.
