Some shoppers took to Facebook to express their annoyance at having to to park further away from Aldi to get the their groceries, but others seem to be ok with the disruption, considering another part of the car park has been extended recently, with the demolition of the former Lilac City Cars building at 30 Verner St.
The DA for the upgrade was approved about a month ago and details the work involves re-grading, reconfiguration and ancillary works, including the installation of shade structures, an upgrade to the lighting and existing signage and landscaping.
The overall re-development will create an extra 50 car spaces (total 307 spaces). There will also be a resurfacing of Clinton Lane. Asset manager with A&A Lederer Steve Lacey said the work in its entirety should be completed by Christmas. “We are aiming to provide more convenience for shoppers and shade for summer,” Mr Lacey said
When asked if he minded the inconvenience, one shopper in the car park said: “At the end of the day we have two legs for a reason.”
