The Wollondilly Gold v Trinity Gold match turned out to be very intriguing battle over the two days.
Wollondilly won the toss and batted first on day one, posting a formidable total off their 50 overs.
Josh Wake who was delighted to be elevated to opener made the most of his opportunity, registering an unbeaten 53 and the ever reliable Abdul Raheem posted yet another half century for the season, retiring on 51.
Three of the Wollondilly batsmen posted their highest scores with Sebastian Lesniak knocking up an unbeaten 37. Jack Yeadon hit 36 before being bowled and Leigh Chalker finished the day with 34 runs.
All the Trinity girls bowled well with Hannah Garton, Claire Pettit, Tiahni Wild and Chloe Regterschot all picking up wickets.
Sophie Moroney was very good behind the stumps before coming on to bowl, containing the batsmen during her spell.
Niamh O'Rourke was very enthusiastic in the field and was a big part of the improved fielding showed by the girls.
The second day’s play got underway with Trinity hoping to bat out the day and thwart the boys attempt at an outright win.
In the face of some quality bowling every one of the girls stood up and frustrated the bowlers who at times had no answer the stoic performance of each of the girls as they took their turn at the crease.
The best of Wollondilly’s bowlers on the day was Leigh Chalker, who returned the impressive figures of five wickets for two runs off seven overs with five maiden overs.
Wickets also to Nick and Jack Yeadon, Alex Mackay, Archie Wearne and Hayden Grant capped off a good performance in what was a most enjoyable game.
Trinity are a much improved team from last season and their coach James Kent has been working hard with the girls to make them a competitive team.
They are a credit to his dedication and an absolute pleasure to play against.
The attitude on and off the field is positive and fun loving which shines through in the middle.
They are a very important part of our competition and they will certainly continue to improve throughout the season.
Both teams appreciated being able to play their game on the repaired Seiffert Oval wicket which the volunteer groundsmen, Bob Smith and Tim Price managed to repair in time for their two day match.
