That’s exactly what’s happening in three weeks, with the Grapest 5K Run set to descend on Lake George with a wine-based fun run on Saturday, December 2, but this is no ordinary tippling session, being hosted by award-winning Lake George Winery.
Venue and avents manager, Amanda said “Lake George Winery is very excited to be providing the venue for this unique event. Participants will be able to enjoy the 150-hectare property, which overlooks the spectacular Lake George and is surrounded by the magnificent, rolling hills of the Cullerin Escarpment.”
“The winetasting stations as you near the finish line are going to be the highlight for many we think, where participants will be able to enjoy our renowned premium cool climate wines. It will be a great opportunity for us to showcase our wines in a fun and engaging way, and the entertainment and activities afterwards are going to make this a must do event for visitors and the local community.
The Lake George winey team are all excited to be part of such a unique and great experience. We look forward to an exciting day of health, great wine and entertainment.”
This event has taken the country by storm. The Grapest 5K Run is the newest, most unique event to hit the Aussie running scene, and wine-loving fitness enthusiasts have run, walked, sipped and skipped their way through some of the most picturesque wine regions across Australia.
If you’re looking for a little extra motivation to start exercising, a wine-based fun run might just be what you need. But you'll have to put in the hard yards before you get your red and white rewards.
Start by running (or walking) through and around the vines of the stunning Lake George Winery for 5 or 10 kilometres, spurred on by the promise of a wine-tasting cool-down “Waddle” to the finish line. Linger a while at the wine-tasting stations, sampling some of the best wines Lake George has to offer. Not much of a runner? Just for the fitness-challenged, the wine-tasting section can be experienced on its own!
Let’s get the flaming wine glasses out and set the after-party on fire with live entertainment by Canberra’s own premier band, Something Like This, who will be joining the Grapest 5K Run with their hits from every decade.
From Victoria to NSW and South Australia, Queensland to Western Australia and Tassie, the Grapest 5k Run showcases some of the best wineries and vineyards across Australia, and now the wine-loving runners of the Canberra region are set to get a taste of this truly unique experience.
Exquisite scenery, a bit of healthy exercise, a leisurely sampling of some of the Langhorne Creek Region’s most beautiful vintages, and a rockin’ after-party. Whether you’re a running enthusiast, a lover of fine wines, or just love a great night out, the Grapest 5k Run has something for everyone.
