Community Christmas Party
It's Christmas time, Santa is making a list, the elves are busy and our Community Christmas Party is on Saturday, December 9 from 5pm at the Towrang Hall. All residents of the Towrang Valley (including Big Hill and Greenwich Park) are invited along, and don't forget to bring your family and visitors. BYO drinks and nibbles, barbecue meal is provided. If you wish to bring something, a slice or cake for dessert would be appreciated.

Santa has informed us that he will be dropping by, so bring a wrapped and labelled gift (to the value of $10) for your child to help him out. We will be having our raffles again and donations of non-perishable goods and Christmassy items for our hamper and other prizes would be greatly appreciated. These can be dropped off at the fire station of a Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning. If you would like to purchase raffle tickets or take a book to sell to family and friends, please ring Myrna on 4829 8236. Tickets are $1 each - a great bargain. We have lots of prizes on offer.
RSVPs would be appreciated by December 4 to the above phone number. This will make sure that we have sufficient food for everyone and bags of goodies for the children. We would like some people to assist with the games for the children at the Christmas party - line the children up, be at the start and finish lines and hand out the prizes. The games are very simple - running races, jellybean on spoon, three-legged, apple bobbing.
Hope to see lots of new faces, especially children, this year.
Yuletide Mail Trail
Hope your letterbox/gate decorations are planned for this year's Yuletide Mail Trail competition. Time is running out - fast. Start decorating from November 24, finishing by December 8. Judging will be done over the next couple of weeks, with the winner announced on December 31.
This year we have decided to have a small, friendly competition. If you wish to participate in the competition, send an email to towrangnoticeboard@yahoo.com.au so we can put you on a list and our community judging panel will drive around and decide on a winner. If you don't wish to be involved in the competition, please decorate your gates anyway. It is wonderful to drive along the roads and see the thought and effort that people put in to make this a festive area.
Progress Group meeting date change
This month's meeting date has been changed to Wednesday November 29 from 6.30pm at the Towrang Hall due to absences of committee members.
Towrang Hall flooring
The Towrang Hall Trust would like to thank Lynwood Quarry for their generous grant to allow us to replace the floor of the hall. This has been some years in discussion and without your assistance, would not have been possible to achieve. We would also like to thank Jono Dow from DownUnder Carpentry for his time and expertise in preparing and laying the new floor and Jase Cosgrove from Cosgrove Electrical for the electrical work. Also the following community members. Without your assistance over the past few weeks, this project would not have been completed: Alan, Dennis, Martin, Roland, Jean, Kevin, Robert, Greg, Myrna.
Unfortunately, it is taking longer than expected to complete the installation, but it will be done in time for the Christmas party. We are doing the final laying in the next week, so if you can assist it would be very much appreciated, even if for a short time. Please ring Alan on 0418 429 070 if you can help.
Council Outreach Meeting
A very successful Council Outreach Meeting was held on Thursday, November 16, attended by 23 interested community members and eight councillors and staff. A number of pertinent issues for our community were raised, including the Towrang Bridge replacement, discretionary funds, road resealing, weed control and development approvals, as well as being informed of upcoming projects from Marulan and Goulburn.
We would like to thank the councillors and staff for coming to our village and holding these outreach meetings each year. The Hall Trust committee also thank the Bushfire Brigade for the use of their station to hold the meeting as the hall was unavailable. A big thank you to Jean, Joan and Debbie for the catering.
Towrang 'Tavern'
The 'Tavern' gathering for this month will be on Friday, November 24. Come along to the Towrang Hall from 6.30pm, bring your drinks, meal and don't forget the kids and visitors. Great opportunity to catch up with the neighbours, especially if you are new to the area. Everyone is welcome and all we ask is a gold coin donation to help keep the lights on and that you bring your best humour with you.
