The night recognises students across all musical fields, including speech and drama, who have been working hard and applying themselves to their instruments and studies.
GRC CEO Paul Scott-Williams said many of the students are involved in regular performances and rehearse with a Con ensemble every week.
“Some have achieved to a very high level, others play and perform for their own enjoyment and then there are those students who have been active in presenting themselves for HSC examinations or AMEB grades,”Mr Scott-Williams said.
“In 2017 we have seen a number of our students achieve high level results with some passing their AMusA examinations. It is important to remember that we are a “whole of life” institution with our youngest student being only 12 months old and our most senior students are in their 90’s.”
There will be performances from various student groups on the night, as well as the announcement of the 2018 GRC Student Captain.
“This is a role that has grown in prestige and importance over recent years,” Mr Scott-Williams said.
“The GRC Captain takes an important leadership role and is the representative voice of all students who study with us.
“Our outgoing Captain, Thomas Bensley, has been a fine example of leadership through his regular performing, hosting of concerts and supporting other students throughout his year.”
This year there is also a staff-voted award for Student of the Year.
“Each staff member has been invited to nominate a student they consider to have been exemplary in their involvement in the GRC and in their manner throughout the year,” he said.
“It will be very exciting to find out who the inaugural winner is.”
The Presentation Night starts at 7pm in the GRC Recital Hall, 160 Bourke St.
